Paint For Peace (PFP) Project was initiated by the IPYG Netherlands branch in early 2024, as a pilot project to raise awareness of the importance of the "inner peace" of European youth.
The pandemic has left many young people feeling lonely and depressed (6.5% reported frequent suicidal thoughts, and 63.1% feeling lonely sometimes*), a serious social problem that needs to be addressed.
This pilot project aimed to foster inner peace among Dutch youth and laid the foundation for applying to the Erasmus+ Program. The Paint for Peace (PFP) project was thus launched, under the conviction that the inner peace of youth in the Netherlands can contribute to peace across Europe and beyond.

A Citizen Participating in the Paint For Peace Project
Project No.2: The Cube House - Rebuilding Peace
Paint for Peace means "painting for peace."
It is a citizen-participation interactive art activity carried out multiple times: A large white canvas is divided into a grid. Each square is assigned a color code. Participants fill the canvas by sticking the corresponding colored squares, gradually revealing a collective artwork.
While engaging in this simple activity, participants reflected on the meaning and purpose of peace and shared questions and answers about inner peace.
Although the pilot project began with the theme of "inner peace," the activity was extended to various themes, allowing multiple artworks to form one larger storyline over time.
